It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Santiago, 74, of Amsterdam, NY who left us peacefully December 1, 2025. She was born May 21, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Jose and Marcelina (Milecia) Valentyn.

Josephine  is survived by her loving Husband: Richard Santiago. Children : Edith Janet colon, Johnpaul Pereira Sr. and Michael Pereira Sr. Grandchildren : Jose Villalobos, Michael Anthony Pereira Jr, Jonathan Michael Pereira, Johnpaul Pereira Jr And great grandchildren: Malani Josephine Pereira and JaiVion Jonathan Pereira.

She was the true center of her home. Whether she was cleaning, cooking, or simply offering a listening ear, she dedicated her life to caring for others. She was the kind of mother, grandmother and friend, who supported everyone around her, always putting family first and showing love through her actions every single day.

One of the most meaningful parts of her life was helping people build new beginnings. She welcomed many into her home and helped them get established in the community, asking for little to nothing in return. Her generosity, patience, and willingness to help others start fresh left a lasting impact on countless lives. Josephine had a strong will, her spirit was strong and she never gave up. She fought hard all the way til the end.

Her legacy is one of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering support. She will be remembered for her warm heart, steady love, and the comfort she brought to everyone who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
