Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 "A Time For Everything"
Joseph Lee Peter, affectionately known as Joe, was born on April 8, 1969, in Beaufort, South Carolina. He left this world on September 1, 2025, in his home surrounded by those he loved, but not without leaving a significant imprint on those who were lucky enough to know him. A proud graduate of Quincy Senior High School, Joe embodied the spirit of his hometown with a kind heart and a generous spirit. He dedicated his life to celebrating the joys of kinship and humor, always ready with a witty remark that could brighten even the dullest of days. To say Joe was funny would be an understatement; his ability to make people laugh was unparalleled, making him a beloved figure among friends and family. Throughout his life, Joe found immense joy in three key passions: his family, computers, and Ford Mustangs. An avid enthusiast, he found solace in working on and restoring these classic cars, showcasing both his meticulous nature and his love for a good challenge. If there was a Ford Mustang nearby, you could bet Joe would be there, ready to share tales and lend a hand, all while regaling onlookers with his latest adventures. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Janelly Peter, who was his partner in all things; his sons, Ricardo Alvarado of Winter Haven, FL, and Evan Leckbee of Quincy, IL; and a close-knit family that includes his brother James E. Peter, Jr. (Tracey) of Green Castle, PA, his sister Marjori Peter of Quincy, IL., his sister-in-law Maribel Alvarado of Lake Wales, FL, his sister-in-law Liliana Alvarado of Margarita, Venezuela, and his brother-in-law Jose Luis Alvarado of Margarita, Venezuela. Joe was also a proud uncle to Chelsea Peter of Colorado Springs, CO, Andrew and Braden Peter of Quincy, IL, niece Mariang Flores of Margarita, Venezuela, and nephews Andres and Gabriel Flores, of Lake Wales, FL. He is survived also by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he adored deeply. In addition, he is also survived by his favorite pets, Lucas and Rosie. Preceding him in death were his parents, Mary Ann Peter and Major James E. Peter, USMC ret.; one brother, John W. Peter; and both paternal and maternal grandparents, who surely welcomed him with open arms. While cremation rites have been accorded, friends and family will soon gather for a Celebration of Life, where laughter, fond memories, and maybe even an impromptu Ford Mustang show will take place in homage to Joe’s vibrant spirit. In the wise words of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, "A Time for Everything" — and while it's time for Joe to leave us, his legacy of humor, kindness, and family devotion will endure. He may have left this world, but his laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
