Obituary

Joseph Michael Nally August 14, 1953 – October 26. 2025

Joseph “Joe” Michael Nally, 72, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away surrounded by family. Born on August 14, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, Joe was the beloved son of Frank Garland and Mary Alice Nally, and the youngest of five brothers.

Joe’s life was defined by his deep faith, steadfast love for his family, and dedication to his community. He was a devout Roman Catholic and a proud, active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Greeley, where he served faithfully on the parish council, finance council, and church restoration council, and was deeply involved in fundraising and youth ministry.

Joe married the love of his life, Marilyn, in Denver, Colorado, in April 1981. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning 44 and a half years. On May 13, 1989, they renewed their vows at the Risen Christ Catholic Parish before moving to New York for Joe’s career. In 1992, they joyfully returned to Colorado, where they built a life rich in faith, family, and community.

Joe began his career in retail at the age of 18 in Kansas City and quickly advanced to the corporate level in New York City, working with the Mercantile Department Stores for 27 years. In 1992, he was invited to Greeley to serve as store manager of Joslins, a role he cherished. In 1998, Joe transitioned to a successful second career as a financial advisor, later retiring from Stifel Nicolaus in April 2025.

Joe’s heart for service extended far beyond his professional life. He volunteered generously within the Greeley community, serving as a Greeley Independence Stampede Committee Member and supporting numerous organizations, including Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, and the American Cancer Association.

Those who knew Joe will forever remember his vibrant passions: his family, his faith, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, aviation, travel, home improvement projects, and his loyal dog, Jarvis. Joe’s favorite music and hymns reflected his joyful and heartfelt spirit, from Elton John and 90s country to praise and worship, especially the band For King & Country.

Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn; their loving daughters Stephanie, Kathryn, and Brittany; his cherished son-in-law Gabriel; and his adored grandchildren Alistair, Adelaide, and Audra.

Joe will be remembered as a man of faith and purpose. He was dedicated, dutiful, generous, ambitious, passionate, protective, dynamic, and deeply devoted. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he poured into his family, faith, and community.

His life reminds us that true greatness lies not in what we achieve, but in how we serve and love others.
