IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Vincent
Fickett
March 8, 1995 – February 12, 2025
Joseph "Joey" Vincent Fickett, 29, of Broadalbin, NY, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Joey was born on March 8, 1995, in Amsterdam, NY, to Theresa (Vande Walker) Van Detta. He attended Gloversville High School and graduated with the class of 2013. Afterwards, he began schooling at the Modern Welding School in Schenectady. Once he graduated, he was employed as a welder for Safeway in Scotia. Most recently, he worked for Callanan Industries in Selkirk. This year marked his fourth year as part of their team, and it was always his proudest accomplishment. He was also a member of the union Laborers' Local 157 in Schenectady.
Everyone who knew Joey knew how infectious his smile was and how he could light up any room he walked into. He always knew how to have the best time, whether it was out snowmobiling in the winter or partying it up on the boat during the summer. He was one of the most hardworking, funny, and caring people you could ever meet. His smile and energy will be deeply missed by his many friends and family.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Wellington Vande Walker and uncle David Vande Walker.
Joey is survived by his mom and dad Theresa and Kevin Van Detta; father Harold Fickett; sister Veronica (Alex Ryder) Fickett; maternal grandmother Helen Vande Walker; aunts Cynthia (Shaun) Edwards and Bernadette (David) Hall; uncle Michael (Damarah) Vande Walker; cousins Abbygail Vande Walker, Bethany Hall, and Johnathon Vande Walker; his dog and faithful companion Hank "the Tank"; as well as many beloved friends.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2pm to 6pm at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A service of remembrance will be held at 6pm.
