“Joe” Jose Luna Ochoa, 96, passed away on February 1st, 2026, at his granddaughter’s home in Loveland Colorado, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was from North Platte Nebraska, he only attended school a brief time before moving to Sterling Colorado for field work, where he met his wife, Rita where they raised five children together and settled in Evans Colorado.

He worked various jobs before retirement. He loved flavorful food, had to have chili with each meal, and looked forward to menudo every weekend. Joe enjoyed hunting with his brothers and making sure the family had food to eat. He did have to eat a lot of fish so when he got older he swore that he would never eat fish again. He was a devout Catholic who attend Mass every week at St. Peter’s church. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

He is survived by his eldest son Richard Ochoa, son Carlos Ochoa, daughter Irene Ochoa, twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephew and cousin.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Rita Ochoa, daughter Mary Helen Ochoa, son Jose “Joe” Manuel Ochoa, and his second wife Helen Ochoa.

A viewing will be held Thursday February 12th at Adamson Life Celebration Home in Greeley, from 5-6pm, with recitation of rosary from 6-7pm. Mass will held Friday February 13, 2026 at 9:30 a.m., in St Peter’s Catholic church in Greely. Burial will take place at Linn Grove Cemetery immediately following the service. A reception to follow the burial will be at The VFW, 3501 State St, Evans, CO 80620.
