Jesse Marion Brown, was born on August 25, 1937 at home in Eugene to Marion Franklin and Marie Jane (Derring) Brown, he was the fifth of seven children. He passed away at the age of 87 on March 3, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Eugene, Jess graduated from Eugene High School (now South Eugene High School) in 1955, attended Eugene Technical College, training as an aviation mechanic. He worked with his older brother Leo as a pole truck helper, and later worked at Eugene Stud and Veneer, before beginning his career with Northwest Natural Gas in 1964 retiring in 1999.
Jess married Deloris Dooney on June 15, 1957 they had three children before divorcing. He married Roberta "Bobbi" Hites on August 18, 1972. She preceded him in death in October 2001.
He was an active member of Eugene Moose Lodge 686, enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Duck football, softball, and attending family gatherings. Jess was an avid Weather Channel viewer, and always had bubble gum to hand out to the nieces and nephews at family gatherings.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bobbi, sister lona Coursey, brothers Leo and Delbert Brown. He is survived by his children Katherine Lawson (Kevin) of Port Orford, WA, Karri Jo Karker, Jim Dooney (Debbie) Rick Brown (Nan), Bill Minkler (Barbara) of Eugene, and Debi Wood (Alberto) of Duncan OK., 15 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by three siblings: Verlie Boyles of Springfield, Duane "Skip" Brown and Ann Arbogast of Eugene.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March, 22 at West Lawn Memorial Park with a viewing from 9:30-10:00 am, with service and interment following. Services provided by Musgrove Family.
