IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean
Overby
December 4, 1941 – January 29, 2026
Maria Jean Overby passed away January 29, 2026 while in the Hospice House located in Sun City, Florida. She was 84.
Jean was born December 4, 1941 in Baltimore Maryland just three days before the attack on Pearl Harbor Hawaii, a day of infamy bringing America into WWII. She was the third child in a family of eventually seven children all birthed by Eunice Little Maiorana. Her father was Anthony Maiorana, son of Emigrants from Sicily, Italy. Eunice as well as her father were Baltimore natives.
The Maiorana family practiced giving each child traditional names but always referred to each child throughout their lives by a nick name. Thus Maria was always referred to by her middle name, Jean. Jean was the last of her family.
Jean is survived by her husband, James, two children, William and Linda and four grandchildren, James C, Colby, Jacob and Samantha.
Jean was a homemaker skillfully managing the Overby household through the early years of her married life. She cared for her children, offering love and guidance through their formative years. She rejoined the work force as her children reached adolescence. She was a successful administrative assistant and often receiving awards for her efforts. She held positions in the US Department of State, the Department of Interior, the Department of Defense and also held positions in various travel agencies. She also held a Top Secret security clearance while employed by Department of state and Defense. Throughout all this she ran the Overby household efficiently orchestrating day to day operations plus the purchase the several homesites through the years.
Jean was well liked by any who knew her. She had a beautiful smile, was quick to laugh and will be missed by all. May she rest in everlasting peace.
