McCartt, Jane Justice 86, of Thonotosassa, Florida, passed away May 23rd, 2025 at Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida. Born and raised in Coalfield, Tennessee, she graduated from Coalfield School and received an Special Education Degree from the University of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents Victor Erwin and Violet Baldwin Justice, her brothers Tommy, Russell and Vaughn Justice, sister Susie Worstel and infant sister Kathleen Justice, sisters-in-law Betty, Barbara and Betty Lou Justice, and brother-in-law Mick Jones. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, General “G.M.” McCartt of Thonotosassa, Florida, daughter Sheila Graves and husband Peter of Allen, Texas, son Marty McCartt of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, by grandchildren Amanda Kennedy and husband David of Aubrey, Texas, Kendal Graves, wife Megan and son Luke of Princeton Texas, and Kailyn Shealy and brother Gavin of Saluda, South Carolina. She is also survived by brothers Charles Justice of Coalfield, Dickey Justice and wife Judy of Coalfield, Randall Justice of Coalfield, and Mike Justice of Coalfield; by sisters Katherine Gwinn and husband Bob of Ohio, Linda Purdy and husband Frank of New Jersey, Denise Jones of Florida, sister-in-law Mona Justice of Coalfield and brother-in-law Terry Worstel of Indiana, and by numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other extended family members and special friends.
Mother of two but Second Mom to many, Jane enjoyed quilting, sewing, canning beans, and—befitting her nature as one of the sweetest people of all time—was well known for making the very best cakes, pies and candy, including her famous Christmas Peanut Brittle.
A memorial service will be announced to the family at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Tampa : 1-800-272-3900.
