Ivory "Deon" Clark

December 12, 1972 — September 7, 2025

I want to say I am hurt. I don’t understand why you have to suffer like you did, but you still handed it like a man you said you couldn’t imagine seeing your brother or sister go before you. RIP By Cynthia Jarrett

Ivory “Deon” Clark  age 52, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. He was born on December 12, 1972, in Davenport, Iowa, to the late Alvin Clark and Amanda Jean Wilson.

Deon grew up in Davenport, where his natural leadership and love of learning quickly became clear. Throughout his life, he pursued education with passion and purpose, attending various schools and universities. He built a remarkable career as an educator, vice principal, and public servant. His time as an alderman in Rock Island reflected his commitment to giving back to the community he loved. One of his proudest achievements was founding and operating his own K–12 school, where he poured his heart into shaping and guiding young minds.

Deon was known for his brilliant smile, generous spirit, and an ability to make every person feel valued. His colleagues, students, and friends often spoke of his kindness, wisdom, and determination to see others succeed.

Beyond his work, Deon found joy in golf, teaching, and spending time with his family. He cherished laughter, conversation, and the simple moments that brought people together. His faith, humor, and unwavering love left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his siblings: Alma Jean Clark (Kalamazoo, MI), Dorthy Jean (Ronnie) Broyles (Akron, OH), Bobbie Jo Clark (Kansas City, MO), Restell Liddell (Davenport, IA), Alvin Clark (Marvel, AR), Dolares (the late Edwin) Hagood, Tyrone Clark (Rock Island, IL), Jackie (Malcom) Clark (Davenport, IA), Dianne (Edward) Jarrett (Olathe, KS), Tammy Clark (Davenport, IA), Lavern Clark (Rock Island, IL), and Comekea Clark (Kansas City, MO).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Clark and Amanda Jean Wilson, as well as Korneco Clark and Javentae Clark.

Deon’s life was a reflection of service, love, and faith. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. His smile, compassion, and devotion will never be forgotten.

“He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.”
