Isaiah Smith, Jr. 83, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 17, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.

Born on July 6, 1941, in Amsterdam, a son of the late Isaiah and Sarah (Teabout) Smith, Sr. A lifelong resident of the area, Isaiah attended Amsterdam High School and worked for Walmart for many years.

Isaiah was an avid horse racing lover, often attending Saratoga Racecourse; he was a storyteller and loved to tell jokes. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and family man, who will be greatly missed.

Isaiah is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Elaine (Taylor) Smith; children, Isaiah Smith III (Eileen), Marc Smith (Zen), Adiran Smith, Jeannine Smith (Jennie) and Clifton Smith; grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Aaron Smith, Javon Smtih and Atliyah Smith; siblings, Serna Smith and Clifford Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Isaiah was predeceased by his brother, Leslie Smith.

In keeping with Isaiah's wishes, no formal services will be held.
