Helen Marie Anfinsen

Helen “Sue” Anfinsen, age 102, passed away peacefully at Suite Living Senior Care of Spring Lake Park on April 24, 2025.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband James Anfinsen; parents Adolph and Stella Zbikowski; brothers William, Eugene, Theodore, and Donald Zbikowski. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Svensk; step-daughters Nancy Peterson and Kathleen Finch; 5 step-grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sue was born on January 27, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from vocational school and held may jobs over the years. Sue was an avid golfer and was able to play until the age of 84! She especially loved to golf at her home course of Dwan in Bloomington. When she was no longer able to golf, she continued to enjoy the game by watching it on TV. She also enjoyed reading, cooking, playing cards, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on May 31, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2848 County Rd H2, Mounds View, MN 55112. Visitation 1 hr. prior to service. A luncheon will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Messiah Lutheran Church or donor’s choice. A private interment at Sunset Cemetery will be held at a later date.
