Harleigh E. Peppler, 78, of Johnstown passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home. He was born February 23, 1946 in Longmont to Edward R. and Florence P. (Walker) Peppler. Harleigh grew up in Longmont on the family farm and graduated from Longmont High School in 1964 where he was active in football, baseball, FFA, and dairy-beef judging. He served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in November 1968. He went on to study business at the University of Northern Colorado.
Harleigh began his lifelong career in the turf equipment industry working for Boyd Distributing. He then worked at Jacobsen for 22 years, several of those at their corporate headquarters in Racine, WI. Upon returning to Colorado he purchased a distributorship and formed Mile High Turf Equipment which he operated until his retirement in 2002.
He met his wife Cheryl Maus (Nygren) in 1984 and they were married on April 11, 1986. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, golf, fishing, driving his Jeep and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
Harleigh was a member of Fox Hill Country Club, served on Johnstown's City Council, was an Officer of the V.F.W. Post 2585 and American Legion Post #70.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Peppler; his children, Brandon (Tiffany) and Devon (Autumn) Maus; and his granddaughters, Delaney and Sage Maus; his nieces Heidi and Nicole Calhoun, Rachel (Justin) Acosta; his nephew Jason (Jack) Calhoun-Hamilton and great niece and nephew; brother and sister in law Mark (Julie) Nygren, nephews Brock and Blake Nygren and niece McKenzie (Justin) Conner and great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Anita Calhoun and his brother Warren Peppler.
Harleigh will be laid to rest at the Johnstown Cemetery. A Life Celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the United Methodist Church of Johnstown. There will be a reception 4:00p.m. at the JM Post Veteran's Club, 104 E. South 1st Place, Johnstown, CO 80534.
