Gerald "Jerry" Kusnierek

May 3, 1932 — August 24, 2025

Gerald “Jerry” Kusnierek passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. Born on May 3, 1932, Jerry took great pride in being the oldest living Kusnierek—a legacy he treasured deeply. On November 3, 1959, he married the love of his life, Phyllis Marie Lietz, and together they built a beautiful family, raising five sons.

Throughout his remarkable journey, Jerry wore many hats: farmer, government worker, and bus driver. However, his greatest joy was found in gathering with friends and neighbors, sharing stories, and delighting in the simple pleasures of good company. Cocktail hour was the highlight of his day, and he never missed an opportunity for a sweet treat.

Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis; their eldest son, Jim; his parents; and two sisters. He leaves behind a devoted family: sons Mark (Janine), Mike (Lana), Dan (Suzi), Tris (Gerilyn), and seven cherished grandchildren—Andrew, Nicholas, Jack, David, Zoe, Jordan, and Kyra. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom were touched by his kindness and wit.

Jerry was adored by many and will be remembered for his quick comebacks (“How are you feeling? With my fingers!”) and his gentle, soft-hearted nature—a thoughtful gift never failed to bring tears to his eyes. His spirit and humor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rest easy, Papa. May you enjoy a cocktail with Nana and Jim in heaven. We love you and will never forget you.

A funeral service will be held on October 25, 2025, at 4:30 PM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN. Following the service, Jerry will be interred at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, with a light meal to follow at the church.
