Gary (Bear) Romaine Jr., born March 22, 1971, was found passed away in his bed the morning of February 15, 2025, with a peaceful smile on his face.

Gary was a man of simple taste. He enjoyed the company of his loved ones, a cold beer, a cigarette, and a laugh (or even a good argument if you were up for it). If you couldn't catch him doing an odd job around the area, more often than not for Sue Shaver, you'd likely peg him down at the rail trail or Naif's just taking it all in. He was also good with cars, always had one to tinker within the driveway.

Gary is predeceased by his first life partner Debra L. Morris, his father Gary Romaine Sr., his mother Susan (Scott) Romaine, his sister Sharon Romaine, and a man as close to him as a brother; Paul Bateholts Sr.

He is survived by his wife KathyJo (Berry) Romaine, his brother Erwin Romaine: Phillip, his sister Susan (Romaine) Ambridge: Raymond, as well as an abundant list of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will love him always and feel the weight of his absence. He especially had the constant support of his cousins Valerie and Carl Watkins. Gary did not have children, but he is also survived by his goddaughter Megan Hayner whom he loved and cherished like his own.

Bear spent his life romping around where the wind took him. He wasn't one to be cooped up, he loved to be outside. He had a certain charm that couldn't help but make you smile. He had his rough edges, but he had a deep kindness in his big old bear heart. He will be missed but we wish him the best in the peace that comes with passing on.

A memorial will be scheduled for the spring at the Ferndale Cemetery.
