Floris (Flo) Faye Mikkelson passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025. She was born on   December 8, 1931, in Sac City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Junie (Harmon) Davis. A woman of remarkable vitality and grace, Floris lived a full and active life marked by deep commitment to her family, community, and personal passions.

She graduated from Torrington High School in 1949 and from the University of Denver in 1953. She went on to work in Athletic departments at the University of Denver and Dartmouth College. For many years she was the personal assistant to DU ski coach, Willy Schaeffler. In 1974 she moved to Greeley with her husband, Dale, and two children, Brian and Melinda. Here she worked in the banking industry for decades building successful senior banking programs for people “50 and Better”. Her life was a testament to the values of hard work, commitment, and loyalty.

Throughout her 93 years, Floris remained actively engaged in numerous community organizations, most notably the Greeley Lions Club, Union Colony Civic Center, and Greeley History Museums. She enjoyed live theater, reading, and being out and about in a variety of activities in Greeley. She particularly enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s many activities. Her energy, intellect, and warm spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dale; her children Brian Mikkelson and Melinda Andrews; grandchildren, Carter Mikkelson, Kelton Andrews, and Colbie Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don.

A service to honor and celebrate Floris’s life will be held at The First United Methodist Church of Greeley, on May 28, 2025, at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, Flo requested contributions may be made to the Greeley History Museums.

Her strength, dignity, and love will always be remembered.
