Eugene Lee Alexander, born on May 20, 1945, in Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 80.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ina Dorroh and Virgil Alexander. Eugene is survived by his brother, Ken Alexander, and his wife, Carla; his nephew, Mike Alexander, and his wife, Becky; and his nieces, Teresa Alexander and Paige Alexander, along with many great-nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a small circle of close friends whom he cared for deeply.
Eugene shared an especially close and meaningful bond with his mother, Ina. They were part of each other’s daily lives, spending time together gardening, shopping, thrifting, and sharing meals. He loved her deeply and missed her greatly.
He was truly one of a kind, with a unique sense of humor that those who knew him will remember with a smile. Gene loved raising chickens and took great joy not only in caring for them, but also in giving them away to others.
He never had a driver’s license, but that never slowed him down—he could often be seen riding his bike or taking the bus throughout Corvallis. He was very social and well known in the community, forming connections with people of all ages and from all walks of life.
Eugene had a strong interest in the weather and especially enjoyed tracking storms. He also loved watching movies, both at home and in the theater, and spent time collecting little treasures from ARC, Goodwill, thrift stores, and garage sales.
Eugene cared for people, especially those in nursing and retirement homes, and had a heart for people who were lonely and homeless. He worked in food services for Oregon State University for 25 years.
Eugene will be remembered for his one-of-a-kind personality and the life he chose to live. His life was not complicated, but it was truly his own. He will be remembered with warmth by those who knew him.
