Elva Mejia

July 25, 1948 — June 8, 2024

Elva Mejia, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished teacher.

Elva Mejia, 75, of Huntington Beach, CA, passed away on June 8, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished teacher.

Born on July 25, 1948, Elva brought joy, kindness, and inspiration to everyone she met. From a young age, her bright spirit and love for learning shone brightly. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education and embarked on a remarkable teaching career, specializing in teaching third grade. She possessed a special gift for connecting with her students, instilling a love for learning and a sense of curiosity that endured long after they left her classroom.

Elva shared a beautiful life with her husband, Israel Mejia, whom she married on a lovely fall afternoon 53 years ago. Their love story was one of deep affection and endless laughter. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Anibal, Madeleine, and Joseph, who were the lights of her life. Her dedication to her family was evident when she chose to step away from her teaching career to focus on raising her children.

Elva’s life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, dedication, and strength. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, and friend, always there with a listening ear, a warm hug, and wise advice. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she was a steadfast friend to many. Elva’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit inspires us daily.

Elva is survived by her husband, Israel, and her children, Anibal, Madeleine, and Joseph.

A celebration of Elva’s life will take place at the First Christian Church in Huntington Beach, CA, on August 3, 2024, at 10:30 AM.
