Ellen Kay Swiatek

April 29, 1943 — October 9, 2024

Ellen Kay Swiatek, age 81, of Fountain Valley, California, died peacefully on October 9, with her family and friends by her side.  Kay was born in 1943, the oldest daughter of the late Marvin J. Hildreth and Rosalyn (Reviere) Hildreth. She grew up in Ontario, California and was a graduate of Chaffey High School Class of 1961 and a California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, Class of 1971.

Kay was beautiful, effortlessly elegant, fiercely loyal and full of grace.  Her smile would light up the room, and in December 1960, it lit up the heart of the love of her life Edward Orville Swiatek. Ed, a University of Southern California student and former Marine, proposed to Kay at the gazebo on Laguna Beach.  They married in 1961 and remained happily together for the next 63 years.

In 1964, their daughter Anastasia Swiatek was born. In 1977, they moved to Fountain Valley to be closer to her sister Karol. Kay was a devoted mother and always put family first. Kay was an excellent cook, was clever at cards, and loved to swim. Ed and Kay traveled to Hawaii with family and to Europe with friends.  Kay had a passion for geography and a good spy novel. She loved spending time with Ed and her family, chatting with her sister Karol, meeting friends for breakfast at the beach, and feeding the squirrels in her back yard.

Kay leaves a great legacy and is survived by her devoted husband Edward O. Swiatek, daughter Anastasia Swiatek, grandson Edward Paul Hoyt, granddaughter Madeline Rhiannon Hoyt, and great granddaughter Harper Kay Swiatek. She is also survived by her loving sister Karol Jackson and her husband Terry, brother-in-law Robert Wayne Swiatek and his wife Marjie, nieces Amy Novak Huff and Marcy Swiatek Brandner and their families, and many family friends. Kay was so loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Services for Kay were held privately.
