IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elaine Lainey
Gonzales
October 29, 1961 – May 9, 2025
Elaine "Lainey" Gonzales, 63, passed away on May 9, 2025, in Sun City Center, Florida. Born on October 29, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, she lived a life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and her faith.
A proud graduate of Samuel C. Mumford High School's Class of 1979, Elaine began her professional journey with a long tenure at General Motors. She later spent a short number of years with Anheuser Busch before embarking on a remarkable 27-year career with the United States Postal Service. Her strong work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.
Elaine was deeply devoted to her family. She was the loving mother of Manuel "Tony" Gonzales and his wife Kathryn Gonzales, and the proud grandmother of Giana Gonzales. Her bond with Giana was especially close—she cherished their FaceTime calls and treasured every moment they shared. Elaine also held a special place in the hearts of her niece Crystal Wynn and Crystal's children, Armani Wynn and Jawaun Wynn.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother Evelyn Good; her parents Wilma and Johnny Moore; her brother Jerry Moore; and her sister Deborah Jackson. Elaine honored their memories throughout her life with love and reverence.
Elaine found joy in simple pleasures—bowling until she could no longer do so, shopping trips that brought laughter and delight, cooking meals for those she loved, listening to music that lifted her spirit, and spending quality time with friends who became like family. Her circle of "Besties"—Renee, Carolyn, Kim, and Lisa—shared countless memories filled with laughter and unwavering support.
Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life. She participated in Bible study regularly and continued to nurture her spiritual journey under the guidance of Rev. James Michael Robinson at Community Baptist Church.
Elaine was known for being fiercely honest—never one to hold back how she felt—and those who knew her appreciated this rare authenticity. She was a devoted daughter who cared closely for her cherished mother until the end. As a sister, aunt, grandmother, friend, and neighbor, she brought warmth and strength into every relationship.
May Elaine's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A Visitation will be held on May 15, 2025, from 02:30 PM to 04:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service from 04:00 PM to 04:30 PM at Sun City Center Funeral Home 1851 Rickenbacker Drive, Sun City Center, Florida.
