Dr. William Mack Hebble

Dr. William Mack Hebble, 89, passed away at his home on Hilton Head Island on September 13, 2024. 

Bill received his medical degree from the University of Illinois – Champagne Urbana, proudly serving as a Captain in a MASH unit of the United States Army before doing his residency in orthopedics at Indiana University in Indianapolis. He subsequently established his medical practice at the Beloit Hospital in Wisconsin where he enjoyed a long and successful career as a respected orthopedic surgeon. 

After retiring, Bill lived in Sapphire, North Carolina and Hilton Head, South Carolina where he took pleasure in sailing, walking the mountains (especially his annual birthday walks), spending time with family and friends, and sharing his dry, witty sense of humor.

 Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Sara; his devoted children, Bob (Helaine) and Jeni Greene (Clint); stepson David Kloos (Diane); adored grandchildren Baylor, Cole, Barrett (Hailey) and Will; and his step-grandchildren Jordan, Alex, Jake, Danny and Abby.

 Visitation on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 12:00 noon – 3:00 pm at The Island Funeral Home, 4 Cardinal Road, Hilton Head, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory can be made to the ASPCA. 

A large presence in our lives, we will always love and miss him.
