Dorothy A. Roy, 85 of Gloversville, passed peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born May 28, 1939 in Gloversville to the late Francesco (Frank) Gargiulo and Carmela (Millie) Urgo Gargiulo.

Dorothy was a 1957 graduate of Gloversville high school and voted most athletic.

She was on several bowling leagues and took up golfing in her 50s for fun and she even got a hole-in-one. She was a member of the Ida McGinness Sr's club. She was a lifelong communicant of Church of the Holy Spirit, and the churches women's society.

Dorothy worked as a glove maker for a few years at the Rubin Gloves until retiring.

Dorothy loved to gamble, going to the casino betting on all sports and the horses she loved her scratchers. She would always make any gathering or party fun and enjoyed singing Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli songs. She also loved to talk on the phone to her brothers and sisters several times a day besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband, Raymond Roy, who she married June 23, 1963 her sister's Connie Passero, Mary Priolo and brother Alfred Garguilo.

She's survived, but her daughter Renee M. Roy of Gloversville a son David M. Roy (Linda) a grandson, DJ Roy all of Gloversville. Her sister's Frances Gargiulo, Mildred (Midge) DeMagistris, her brothers, Louis, Gargiulo, and Frank (Bebe) Garguilo and Robert ( Bob) Gargiulo, all of Gloversville also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews whom she all adored. Her good friends, Jeannie McDuffie, and Ellie Ryder, who are always there for her and dog Rusty.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at the church of the Holy Spirit at 12 noon. A calling hour will be held from 11:00. a.m. until the mass. Burial will be in the spring at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
