WEST COLUMBIA: A memorial service for Doris Twitty Johnson Ross, 78, will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at All Saints Episcopal Church, officiated by Reverend Patricia Sexton. Inurnment, at a later date, will be in Woodridge Memorial Park. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to All Saint's Episcopal Church, 1001 12th St., Cayce, SC 29033. Mrs. Ross passed away Friday, April 19, 2013. Born in Rock Hill, SC, she was a daughter of the late Hugh Rhomell Johnson, Sr., and Eva Mae Twitty Johnson. She was a 1952 graduate of Rock Hill High School; and was a life time founding member of All Saint's Episcopal Church where she served on the St. Anne and St. Theresa Guilds. Mrs. Ross retired from SC DHEC in Vital Records; after retirement she worked for Dr. Joseph Moran's office. She was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed travel and camping with her husband after his retirement. Survivors include: daughter, Eva R. Benson of West Columbia; son, Arthur Ray "Buck" Ross, Jr. of West Columbia; grandchildren, Gene McBride Ross and Kevin Michael Ross of West Columbia; brother, Hugh R. Johnson, Jr. (Shirley) of Fort Mill; sisters, Sara Lynn J. Brock of Catawba and Vicki J. Boyd of Rock Hill; also several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Arthur Ray Ross, Sr., son, Matthew Patrick Ross and sister, Shirley Ann Price. The family would like to thank the staffs of Agape at Lexington, Agape Hospice and Lexington Medical Center for their compassionate care of Mrs. Ross over the past year.
