It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Dolores (Scrivens) Cahill, on April 4, 2025, at the age of 89.
Dolores was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Freeman and Etha Scrivens. Upon graduating from Athens High School, she began her lifelong career as a devoted mother, spouse and cherished friend. Her greatest happiness was in participating in, or hearing about the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed an active social life from being involved in church events or hosting neighborhood gatherings, to being an avid Bridge player. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and creativity. Dolores was a talented artist, musician and had a wonderful sense of humor that she passed along to her children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Wayne Cahill; daughter Margaret Cahill; parents Freeman and Etha Scrivens; brother Gerald Scrivens and sister Estella Mingos.
Dolores is survived by her five children, Katherine Cahill of Raleigh, North Carolina, Paul (Sandy) Cahill of Waterbury, Vermont, Dale (Darcy) Cahill of Bakersfield, Vermont, Sally (Pete) Ziter of Youngsville, North Carolina and Betsy (Jay) Whaley of Summerville, South Carolina as well as 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was a loving and devoted mother, whose guidance, wisdom and humor will continue to live within all of us. She taught us the importance of laughter, the beauty of the arts, and the strength of family.
She will be greatly missed but we take comfort in knowing that she will live on in our hearts, in the stories we share, and in the memories, we carry with us.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Music Program at Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W. 3rd South Street, Summerville, SC 29483
