Deborah Ann Hoever

July 11, 1961 – December 22, 2024

Deborah Ann Hoever, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 63 in Centereach, New York. Born in the Bronx on July 11, 1961, to Matthew Kessler Jr. and Harriet Pangas, Deborah’s life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and a deep love for others.

Deborah dedicated her career to caring for others as a Direct Support Professional at Maryhaven Center for Hope, where she was a nurturing presence and a teacher of natural science. Her compassion extended far beyond her professional life, as she was a mother figure to many and a devoted volunteer at Sweetbriar Nature Center and occasionally with Friends of Flax Pond at West Meadow Beach.

An avid bowler, Deborah spent years immersed in the bowling community, managing several centers across the island. She also spent many years volunteer coaching and maintaining fields for Middle County Soccer leagues.

She found joy in bringing people together, whether it was at the bowling lanes, in her work, or through her volunteer efforts. Her love for animals was equally profound, as she cherished her kitties, grand kitties, and even her grand squirrel.

Deborah cherished the time she spent with her family. She leaves behind her four children: Kenneth Hoever Jr., Veronica Sayers, Brian Hoever, and Justin Hoever; her son-in-law, Robert Sayers; her fiancé, John Meyer; and her step-father, Nicholas Pangas.

She is also survived by her six siblings: Renee Fieger, Matthew Kessler, Steven Kessler, Patti Dinler, Bobby Pangas, and Michele Kessler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew Kessler Jr. and Harriet Pangas.

Her presence will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were lucky enough to know her. Deborah’s warmth, generosity, and passion for life touched countless lives, and her memory will forever be cherished.
