David Neil Sherburne, husband to Anita K. Sherburne who passed away in 2023, and stepfather to Krista Corral, and Brother-in-Law to Diane LaRue Fetherolf, Robert Fetherolf, and Barbara LaRue.  David passed on December 17th, 2024, in Greeley, CO.

David was born August 10, 1942, in Boone, Iowa.  He was the only child to John and Rose Sherburne.  He then moved to Colorado where he was a Colorado Highway Patrol Captain for 25 years, retiring in 1993.  He was also an active member of the El Jebel Shriners Chapter in Denver, CO.  Given his interest in photography, he served as their official photographer.  He and Anita were also members of the Sportscar Club for many years.

David met Anita through the Service Corporation International LIFT program, which she developed and served as program administrator, to help surviving spouses adjust to the loss of their spouses.  It was love at first sight, with David eventually volunteering to drive the bus for the LIFT program to lovely locations as far as Branson, MO.

David and Anita were married at the El Jebel Shrine on April 15, 1995, in Denver, CO.  They were married for 28 years, ending with Anita's passing.  David loved to drive, driving tour buses throughout Colorado for many years.  He and Anita took numerous car trips around the country.  They loved to visit Presidential Libraries and National Parks and other points of interest.  David chronicled these adventures as well as numerous family reunions and holiday gatherings, utilizing his photographic skills.

David will be laid to rest next to Anita at Roselawn Cemetery in Fort Collins, CO.  A service will be held at Adamson Mortuary on January 7th.  A viewing will be held at 11:00am, and the service at noon. There will also be a reception following the service.  The mortuary is located at 2000 47th Ave. in Greeley, CO.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be given to the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado (800 272-3900).
