“When I Get Where I’m Going, Don’t Cry For Me Down Here”
Chuck Clifford Delano, age 54, passed away Saturday, December 22nd, 2024, in North Carolina where he spent many years of his life.
Chuck was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on January 21, 1970, a birthday he would later share with his youngest daughter. He lived in many places in his youth, but found home in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he met his high school sweetheart Lesia. Marrying on May 25, 1991, they made a home in Terre Haute, and became parents to two daughters, Jacquelynne and Alexandria. He was always eager to tell anyone how proud he was of his daughters.
Chuck went into the convenience store business and worked his way up to running the show. He was very proud of his professional success. He taught his daughters much about business and took them to work with him at any opportunity.
Chuck had much success in anything he decided to do, but also faced personal struggles, where he showed us all true strength. Despite his own battles, he never met a person or animal that he didn’t want to help. He was unfailingly generous.
Towards the end of his life and time spent with his daughters, he often spoke of seeing his childhood dog, Moochie, in heaven. He didn’t want a lot of mourning, he simply requested that we celebrate in honor of his life. In his own words, “party it up!” He also wanted us all to remember that, “life is short.”
We will carry these lessons with us always, as will his granddaughters who adored their Papaw Chuck. Much like he was with his daughters, he constantly spoke of his granddaughters at any chance, beaming with pride.
Chuck’s larger-than-life presence and legacy will be remembered and cherished by his children, Jacquelynne and Alexandria, his three granddaughters, Joralynn, Joryannah, and Janorah, and the mother of his children, Lesia. He will be dearly missed by all the many lives he touched and brought smiles to.
In lieu of flowers and in the spirit of Chuck’s generous soul, we ask you make a donation in his memory to any of his favorite charities: Toys for Tots, The Trevor Project, or Jen’s Kitty Rehab of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
