IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christopher J.
Mcgrail
January 2, 1987 – December 29, 2024
Lifelong Gloversville resident, Christopher J. McGrail, 37, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Chris was born on January 2, 1987, in Albany, NY, to Michael and Debra (Filkins) McGrail. He graduated from Gloversville High School with the class of 2005, and went on to earn an Associate's Degree in business from Fulton Montgomery Community College. Chris worked for many years alongside his family at their restaurant, Big Mikes. Afterwards, he became an insurance agent and began working for OB1 Insurance in Mayfield, where he was employed for 10+ years.
Chris was known for his infectious smile and his unique ability to brighten even the darkest of days. His presence was a gift; he greeted everyone with a smile and knew exactly how to lift their spirits. Chris was not just a friend but a source of encouragement for many. His kind words, compliments, and genuine desire to help others make him an unforgettable figure in our community.
Chris cherished his time with friends and family, often spending it in the ways he loved most. He was an enthusiastic golfer, finding joy both in the game and in the companionship it brought. Whether it was meeting for lunch, sharing a drink, or enjoying the serene beauty of Sacandaga Lake or Caroga Lake, Chris made every gathering a celebration of life and friendship.
He was predeceased by his grandparents Arthur McGrail, Geraldine McGrail, Wallace Filkins, and Gertrude Filkins; uncles Mark Loux and Donald Grimaldi; and his aunt Margaret (McGrail) Sanders.
Chris is survived by his parents Michael B. and Debra McGrail; brother Michael P. McGrail; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
