Cheryl Ann (Talhelm) Freeman

March 27, 1947 — January 17, 2025

Cheryl Ann (Talhelm) Freeman of Gettysburg, slipped away peacefully on January 17, 2025 at York Hospital, York, Pennsylania, after a long illness. She was born in Greencastle, Pennsylvania on March 27, 1947 to the late Kenneth L Talhelm and the late Julia (Rosenberry) Ludwig.

Cheri loved life. Her love of cooking and serving others was evident in her business ventures @ Sir El's Catering and Sub Shop with her late husband, Elliott J Freeman, in the 1970's in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Also Chez Cheri Cafe in Gettysburg.

She loved horses and was a lifetime member of the Bonny Brook Riding Club in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania. “A Woman's Place Is On A Horse” she'd say. Her love of animals was apparent all around her, from dogs, cats, iguanas, snakes, etc. She had a million reasons to smile surrounded by her many “angel” friends. Hobbies included painting, playing piano, horse-back riding, Native American arts to include Pow Wows and ceremonies, rodeos and of course cooking and dining out. A good mystery wasn't out of the question in the form of a good movie or book.

Cheri attended Shippensburg University where she studied Psychology. For a time she worked in social services and mentored many. It brought her great joy and fond memories of those she helped along the way.

She is survived by three children, Tammy L Snyder of Bonneauville, PA, Jeffrey R Snyder (Sheila), of Bethlehem, PA, Lisa K (Snyder) Cohen (Shawn), of Dunncansville, PA; grandsons, Scott T Funderburk (Argentine), of Carlisle, PA, Daniel & Nathan Snyder of Bethlehem, PA, Ryan & Brad Poboy of Altoona, PA, Tommy & Curtis Hoover of Altoona, PA; granddaughters, Jessica (Zach) & Shayna Hoover, of Dunncansville, PA and Samantha Cohen of Dunncansville, PA; a half sister, Sharon Seichrist of Greencastle, cousin Pandora Thompson of Shippenaburg, PA; a slew of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; many other relatives in Franklin County, PA, Mrtyle Beach, NC and Belfast, Ireland.

Cremation was preformed by Peter's Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA. A private celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any animal rescue of your choice. Cards of sympathy can be sent to the Snyder family at 10 Locust St, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
