Charles Duval Slayton

March 9, 1930 — March 25, 2026

Charles Duval Slayton was born in Ingelside, Texas on March 10, 1930 to Mr. and Mrs. Everette Slayton.  He grew up alongside 2 brothers on a ranch in Benavides, Texas.  He and his brothers enjoyed hunting and tinkering with cars and motorcycles together until he left to serve in the Army.  His brothers remained his best friends throughout his life.

Charles was stationed in Germany and was able to travel to several places in Europe while he was there.

He returned home when he was 21 and met the love of his life Rebecca Imelda Garza.  They had two daughters, Patricia and Mary Lynn.  After 7 years of marriage, Rebecca passed and he was left to raise his daughters.  He held Rebecca in high esteem into his old age and the mention of her name never failed to bring a tear to his eyes.

In ____, he was introduced to Erlene Claudette Fielder from Decatur Illinois.  Erlene had one daughter, Terynia Fielder.  Charles and Erlene married in ___.  They had another daughter together, Jessica Chastene Slayton.  Erlene passed in ____ and Charles remained a widow the rest of his life.

Charles dedicated himself to providing for the 4 girls he raised as a truckdriver.  He enjoyed being on the road and seeing the countryside.  In his 80’s he still enjoyed the trucking profession by going with his son- in- law, Eusebio Garcia, who was like a son to him.  Charles challenged his grandsons to compete with him doing push ups into the 80’s and enjoyed riding a motorcycle into his early 90’s.   He was a man of few words and big feelings.

Charles leaves behind, 5 granddaughters,
