Carol E. (Compani) Visconti, 88, of Gloversville, passed away on February 24, 2025, at Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown, NY.
Carol was born on June 30, 1936, in Fultonville, the daughter of Carmin and Gladys (Foss) Compani, as well as stepmother, Mary (Putnam) Compani.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. She dedicated her life to her family and to working with children as a librarian aide in the Gloversville School District. Even after retirement, she returned to the district as a one-on-one aide for children with special needs; all while she assisted her husband with his photography business. During these years, she also babysat for her grandchildren and used her many experiences of working with children to create a fun filled day of craft projects and activities.
Carol was an avid reader, bowler, golfer and she loved to play cards. She enjoyed dancing with her husband and singing while in church. Carol was involved in every committee she could be involved in, a girl scout leader, class reunion committee member, and a member of both the Gloversville and Johnstown Senior Centers and Church of the Holy Spirit.
Carol helped all that she knew and had given so much to so many for so long. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
Survived by her two daughters, Lorraine Szvetics (Steven) and Lisa Garguilo (Christopher); sister, Angela Raponi (Tim); two brothers, Robert Compani (Sandy) and David Compani; sister in law, Marion DiGiacomo (Vincent); three grandchildren, Lauren Scicutella (Joe), Christoper Garguilo (Kourtney) and Dana Burden (Jake); three great-grandchildren, Ellie Scicutella, Christopher Garguilo III and Grace Garguilo; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leo, of 66 years; her daughter, Elaine; sister-in-law, Louise Monaco and her husband, Daniel.
In accordance with her wishes, Carol was cremated. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 930am until 11am at Church of the Holy Spirit, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 S.
