Obituary

Brian Mee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, coach and friend passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024 with Sandy at his side. He was born on April 9, 1938 to Emmett and Genevieve Mee.

He was a three-sport athlete at Johnstown High School, a four-year starting catcher and physical education graduate from Ithaca College, and in 1960, he was drafted by the major league Chicago Cubs. After travelling around the minor league circuits, he came home to teach and coach in area schools. He started up a successful football program in Broadalbin and then went on to Amsterdam where he spent 30 years teaching and coaching. In his later years, he taught Drivers Education both in Amsterdam and Fonda/Fultonville. Plus, he was the "go-to-guy" for the "Betz, Rossi, Bellinger and Stewart" funeral homes. Always in good spirits, he was a people person, quick with a hardy laugh and humble in regard to his many accolades. In baseball circles, he was well known throughout the state for his Amsterdam High School baseball and New York State consecutive wins record in addition to receiving his college and many local "Hall of Fame" inductions.
