Beverly was born in Ipswitch, South Dakota on November 14, 1932, and spent her first years there and in the surrounding area. After her graduation from Ipswitch High School she made the decision to move to the big city, Aberdeen, South Dakota, to get a job. Her parents, Elmer and Mary, moved with her. In Aberdeen she worked in a dress store where she saved money for her trousseau. At the age of eighteen she married Stanley. The two left South Dakota to live in El Paso, Texas at his military posting. After stints in Texas, Washington State, California (twice), and South Dakota (twice); the two settled in Colorado in 1957 where they remained.
Beverly structured her life around work; an ethic she maintained into her last year of life. After staying home with her daughters until they both were school age she began working for the local school district as a cook so she would have the same vacation days as her daughters. The job allowed her to work with children, whom she enjoyed, and to cook; a skill at which she excelled. Later, she began working as a salesclerk at Sears in the children’s department; a position she enjoyed for many years. At both the school district and Sears, Beverly made friends she kept for the rest of her life.
Life was not all work. Beverly enjoyed music and dancing. She traveled and enjoyed trips abroad as well as road trips in a motor home around the state and country. She hosted card and domino parties in her spotless home. She especially enjoyed gardening. She collected dishes, antique cut glass, antique jewelry and antique furniture; as well as a large collection of stuffed toys she built while working at Sears. Beverly was a firm believer in the value of education; a belief she instilled in those around her. She continued her interest in public affairs to the last days of her life.
Services will be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on November 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. (staging area A). Her ashes will be interred with her husband at Ft. Logan in Columbarium Three, Court B, A310.
