Bernadette Constance Metroka, known as Connie or “Sis” to many, joined her husband of 62 years in heaven on January 1st, 2025.
Born on April 21st, 1939 in Troy NY, Connie lived in New York through most of her childhood and adolescent years, and in 1960, Connie married the love of her life, Michael R Metroka Junior. Together they lived in upstate New York, before moving to Florida, where they resided for the last 46 years.
Connie was a skilled musician who loved to sing and play the organ. She and her husband Mike, along with other family members and friends, formed a band and traveled across the state of New York to perform for various venues. Connie was an entrepreneur at heart and had many skills, including working in the real estate industry, a gold factory, and later she built an upholstery business where she worked out of her own home.
Connie is survived by her two children, Terry Collins (Dan) and Michael Metroka III (Jennifer) and her two siblings, Paulette Montanari (Albert) and Bill Hayes (Jennifer). She has 6 grandchildren and 10 great grand-children, all whom she deeply loved.
Those who knew Connie will most remember her for her generous nature, kind spirit and witty sense of humor. She will be tremendously missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration Of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 18th, at 2pm at the clubhouse at Magnolia Manor Mobile Home Park in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Interment of ashes will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery on Monday, January 20th, at 9am.
