On January 6th, Audrey Fischer passed away at the age of 96 years. Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her sons Robert (Cincera) Fischer and Richard (Katharine) Fischer; her grandsons Mitchell (Rachael) Fischer and Michael (Sara) Fischer; and great granddaughter Riley Shea Fischer. Audrey will also be fondly remembered by Sister-in-law Mary (Edward) Zayicek, Cousin Gwen (Benjamin) Stephens, and other extended family and dear friends.

Audrey was born in 1928, the daughter of Florence and Robert Dennie. She studied nursing at Nathan Littauer nursing school where she participated in the United States Cadet Nurse Corp; her schooling also included training on polio in Boston and pediatrics at Johns Hopkins.  She graduated in 1948 and went to work at Nathan Littauer Hospital, later serving as Head Pediatrics Nurse. She was married to Thomas Fischer in 1956 until his passing in 1993.

Audrey was a member of the Foothills Worship Center, the Nathan Littauer Nurses Alumni Association, the Gloversville Senior Citizens Center, and a longtime YMCA supporter.

Audrey loved spending time with Clyde Street and Canada Lake neighbors and many loving friends and hundreds of teddy bears.  Up until May she was living in the house she grew up in and the many plants and flowers there – some planted by her parents – will also miss her loving care.

She was especially proud of her visit with President George H.W. Bush while vacationing in Kennebunkport Maine in 2008.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 5:00 until 8:00PM at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St, Gloversville, NY 12078. At the closing of calling hours, the FulMont Nurses Honor Guard will be doing a tribute ceremony. A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 16 at 11:00 AM at Foothills Worship Center, 305 Jansen Avenue, Johnstown, NY 12095, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well lived. A burial service will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery after the ceremony.
