Obituary

Arthur "Ed" Leonard, 85, of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at St. Mary's Hospital with his family at his side.

Born on May 12, 1939, in Frankfort, NY, a son of the late Arthur and Amy (Congdon) Leonard.

For over 50 years, Ed was a lifelong member of the Perth Fire Dept; serving as past assistant chief, as well as the Chaplin for both the Fire Dept and Fulton County. He was also a long-time member of the JAVAC. Ed was also a devoted member of the Perth Bible Church.

Ed was a retired school bus driver for Broadalbin-Perth Central School District, often volunteering to drive to sporting events and would also be there to cheer the kids on. He loved to fish, and you would always see him rooting for his favorite baseball team, Amsterdam Mohawks, right behind home plate. Most of all, Ed was a loving dad, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ed is survived by his wife and mother of his children, Rose (O'Dell) Leonard; children, Tim Leonard (Lori), Michael Leonard (Alicia), Amy Hine (Eric), Caryn Leonard (Trilby) and Chad Leonard (Stephanie); twin sister, Donna Ames (Martin Branigan); brother, Robert Miller (Shirley); 12 grandchildren with 1 on the way and 12 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ed will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 10am at the Perth Bible Church, 1863 Co. Hwy. 107, Amsterdam, where a viewing from 9am to 9:45am. Ed will be laid to rest at Perth Cemetery in the Spring.

Ed's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.
