Anna G. Groves, aged 96 of Johnstown, NY passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born in Gloversville, NY on May 17, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Harry Lynch and Madeline Bixby Lynch.

Anna was raised in the Catholic faith and attended Gloversville Schools. She worked for N.A. Taylor for many years, the Town of Benson, NY, and as a sample lady for Price Chopper in Johnstown, NY. She was a member of the Johnstown Seniors. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards, a trip to the casino, and attending the races.

She married Willard J. Groves on March 13, 1948. He passed away on June 16, 1988. They were married 40 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her three sons; Willard of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Wayne (Linda) of West Palm Beach, FL, and Kevin J. Groves of Johnstown, NY; a daughter Sharon A. Knapp of Perth, NY; two grandsons Shawn and Michael (Toni) Knapp; and a great granddaughter Kirsten M. Knapp, all of Perth, NY. She is also survived by one brother, Edward Watson of Walpole, MA, and three step great grandchildren Conner, Ashlyn, and Brady Gaffney of Dallas, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Jack Lynch, Jimmy Lynch, and Thomas Watson, and her sisters Doris Paul, Betty Davis, Mary Blood, Jane Sweet, and Florence Hagopian. She was also predeceased by her son in law Donald Knapp.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sara, Robin, Megan and Kate as well as the entire staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassion and support during Anna’s final days. The family would also like to thank her “other family” Marsah, Linda, Laurel, Denise and Paula as well for their support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anna’s name may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice 108 Steele Avenue Gloversville, NY 12078.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling hour on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home 51 Fremont Street Gloversville, NY 12078 with a prayer service taking place at the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Following the services, all are invited to a luncheon at the clubhouse at the Trackside Apartments Homes in Johnstown. Interment will be private.
