Anita Charlene Fletcher, 84, of Pierce, passed away at NCMC after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, November 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Greeley on July 22, 1940 to Neil Asher and Wanda Mae (Jennings) Nicks.
Anita grew up in Pierce where she graduated Valedictorian from Pierce High School in 1958. She played in an accordion band while in high school.
On February 22, 1959, she married Neal Harold Fletcher at the Pierce Methodist Church, celebrating 65 years together on February 22, 2024. The family farmed in Pierce, where Anita helped with driving trucks and equipment while raising her children. She worked for the Greeley Tribune as an office administrator and bookkeeper from 1975 to 2003, when she retired.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Anita enjoyed bowling, sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, playing Sudoku on her computer, hosting holiday dinners and jigsaw puzzles but most of all, she enjoyed time with her family.
In her earlier years, she played the organ at the Pierce Methodist Church, was a 60-year member of the Order of the Amaranth, and served as Worthy Advisor for Rainbow Girls.
Survivors include her husband, Neal, children; Carol Chavey, Teresa Sappington, Mike Fletcher and Kim (Robert) Leaf, nine grandchildren; George Fletcher, Ash "Mariah" Chavey (Gabe), John Sappington and Britney Sappington, Brian Fletcher (Leann Parks), Kevin Fletcher, Kelly (James) Dole, Jed (Christen) and Jake (Lindsey) Leaf, five great-grandchildren; Dominic, William, Elaina, Kata and Max, her siblings; Lorita "Rita" (Andy) Seidler and Robert Nicks, nephew; Wayne Mullins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews, John and Steve Mullins.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial gifts may be made to "American Cancer Society" in care of Adamson, 2000 47th Ave., Greeley, CO 80634. Condolences may be shared at AdamsonCares.com .
