Robert Guy Hobbs

Robert Guy Hobbs, (Bob) 85, passed away on April 23, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born on January 11, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, Bob lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to family, an unrelenting work ethic, and a passion for classic cars and American history.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Audrey Hobbs; his beloved wife, Mary Hobbs, his brother, Walter Hobbs and daughter in law Laura Devito.
He is survived by his five siblings, Margaret, Barbara, Audrey, Russ and Mike. His three children: daughters Cyndy (Tom) Tipps,and Anna (Dylan) Flores and son Bobby (Laura deceased) Devito. His legacy continues through his seven granddaughters—Stephanie (Raul), Julia, Valerie (Connor), Alexandria, Amber, Deja, and Alivia, and three great-granddaughters: Layla, Alena, and Scarlett. And his close friend Brad Zieman.
A true enthusiast of classic convertibles, Bob took great pride in restoring and showcasing his cars at local car shows. His love for craftsmanship extended beyond automobiles—he was known as a tireless worker who was always immersed in a home project or lending a hand to friends and family with theirs. Whether it was adding an addition to his house or helping someone fix up their own space, Bob’s hands were rarely idle.
Known affectionately as a social butterfly among those who knew him best, Bob had a wide circle of friends. He thrived on connection and conversation—always ready with a story or eager to lend support. His interests were as expansive as his generosity; he was an avid reader with a deep appreciation for history. He enjoyed watching old westerns, jeopardy and staying informed on current political affairs.
Bob’s life was one of action and engagement—a man who found joy in hard work, camaraderie, and the simple pleasures of life well-lived. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
Life is but a stopping place,
a pause in what’s to be,
a resting place along the
road to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
different paths along the way,
we all were meant to learn some
things, but never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place
far greater than we know,
for some, the journey’s quicker,
for some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
we’ll claim a great reward,
and find an everlasting peace,
together with our Heavenly Father.
