Joseph Elwood Stone
October 3, 1938 — March 12, 2025
Joseph Elwood Stone ‘Joe’ was promoted peacefully to heaven on March the 12th, 2025. Born on October the 3rd, 1938, Joe spent most of his childhood years in Colorado Springs, CO with some time enrolled at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union Virginia.
He joined the Navy at age 17 and spent 4 years as a submariner. On one of his last ports-of-call he met his beautiful bride, Patricia Louise Starry. After a long 2 weeks of courtship, they married in the beautiful St. Peter’s Chapel on Mare Island, California and would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year.
After returning to Colorado Springs, Joe and Pat were led to a calling for ministry which directed them to places internationally and across the US sharing the good news of how a relationship with Jesus Christ could have a never-ending worldwide impact. Humility, generosity, servanthood, and thankfulness are the best descriptors of how Joe led his life.
Joe is survived and lived life well with his wife Patricia Stone and 3 children, Michael (Suzanne) Stone, Mark (Sheri) Stone and Melinda (Wade) Prichard, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. A private family burial will be held followed by a celebration of Joe’s life at a later date.
