Jerry Lee Scott
November 11, 1958 — July 31, 2025
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body..but rather skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, and loudly proclaiming,Wow! What a ride!
**Obituary for Jerry "Sarge" Lee Scott**
With heavy hearts and a sprinkle of laughter, we announce the passing of Jerry "Sarge" Lee Scott, who left us on July 31, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on November 11, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Sarge lived a life filled with humor, kindness, and deep commitment to his loved ones and country.
A proud veteran, Sarge served in the U.S. Army from 1976 until 1998, going above and beyond the call of duty as a Senior Multi Bed Reactor Entry Technician. It could be said that if there were medals for good humor, honesty, and kindness, Sarge would have been awarded the highest honors every single time. He had a knack for turning even the most serious moments into an amusing life lesson or a hearty laugh, a talent he skillfully wielded throughout his life.
When he wasn't donning his army fatigues, Sarge was busy cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide football team, where he sometimes thought he could coach better than the pros (though the world may never know). His love for war games was rivaled only by his talent in the kitchen, where he concocted dishes that could make a food critic weep, or at least chuckle with delight.
Sarge was not just a man; he was a loving husband to Tommie, a devoted father to his daughters Olivia and LilLee, and a supportive brother to Larry Dixon and Donald Ray Dixon. He made it a point to be a source of joy and support to his sisters Annie Mae August, Claudette Scott, adding a splash of laughter to family gatherings and ensuring that love was always served on the table along with his famous dishes.
His charisma and wit were as contagious as his generosity and kindness. Many will remember Sarge not only for his ability to crack a joke that left you in stitches but for the genuine care he showed to friends and family alike. Even behind a good-natured roast, he always recognized the importance of being considerate to those around him—a true reflection of a life well-lived.
Join us for a final farewell at the Port Hudson National Cemetery on September 26th at 11 a.m., where we will not only honor his service to our nation but also celebrate the indelible spirit he leaves behind—one that will continue to make us chuckle and inspire us to be better individuals.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charitable cause close to Sarge’s heart, to continue his legacy of generosity and kindness. Jerry "Sarge" Lee Scott, may your humor echo in our hearts forever, and may you rest in peace, knowing you left the world a brighter place.
