James Ray Gordon, age 71, of Kaufman, Texas, passed away on April 23, 2025. Born on November 9, 1953, James, affectionately known as Jim, was a man of great humor and deep faith, always ready with a joke and a word of encouragement drawn from his Christian beliefs.Jim had a profound impact on his community, both as an experienced electrician and as a pastor in his later years, where he dedicated himself to guiding others in their faith and serving his congregation with commitment and love.Jim's zest for life extended beyond his professional and spiritual contributions. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, a hobby he often enjoyed alongside his other passions which included painting, reading, and watching old westerns. His creative spirit was also expressed through writing poetry and short stories, crafting jewelry, and more, always bringing a touch of beauty into the lives of those around him.He cherished his family deeply, always finding time to dote on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Jim is survived by his children; son, Steven A.D. Norris and his wife Jennifer Norris; son, James Michael Gordon and his wife Megan Gordon; daughter, Shonda M. Johnson and her spouse, Christopher G. Kendrix; and daughter, Kimberly C. Gardner and her husband Cory Gardner; grandchildren, Jordan K. Johnson, Aliza M. Norris, Marcus Chayce Pinson, James Hyde Gordon, Michael Knox Gordon, and Adelaide C. Gardner; and great-grandchildren, Bailee A. Shoemaker, Keeton L. Johnson, Kambree M. Johnson, and Imani M. Rivers.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leah C. Gordon, his father, William C. Gordon, and his mother, Corinne McCollum.
Jim's life was a testament to his ability to touch the hearts of many, making lasting impressions that will be cherished by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of laughter, love, and faith will continue to live on in the memories of his loved ones.
