Evan Curtis Brown

Evan Curtis Brown, 18, of Honey Grove, Texas gained his wings July 30, 2023, at Medical City Plano, surrounded by the love and strength of his family, where he succumbed to his injuries received after attempting to respond to an emergency call. Evan was born to Clinton Todd and Christie Lynn Brown on October 24, 2004, in Sherman, Texas. He was a recent graduate of Honey Grove High School. Evan was a farmer and rancher by trade, as well as a proud member of the Honey Grove Fire Department. He had plans to attend Grayson County College in the fall to become an EMT before he pursued his dream of becoming a firefighter, as well as continuing his family’s legacy in their trucking, farming, and ranching business. Evan had a great love for the outdoors, his pickup, and surrounding himself with family and friends. He was the type of person that was always the life of the party, even when there was no party. He was a joy to be around, and you would very seldom see him without a smile on his face or a joke to tell. Evan especially loved the harvest season because he got to run the combine, which he always said was the easiest job. He had a very fond love for animals, especially his dog Rip. He is survived by his parents Christie Brown and Colter Gilmore, Clint Brown and René Brown; girlfriend Rylei Mantooth; grandparents, Linda Brown, Susan Ashlock, and Craig Taylor, Kirk and Linda Miller, Johnny and Lisa Jones; great-grandmother Alice Davis and Joan Gilbreath; brothers, Andrew, Cinch, Cason, Lane, and Walter; sisters’ Brittney, Cheyenne, and MaKayla; aunts and uncles, Joanna Gilbreath, Colton and Karen Gilbreath, Dusty and Stephanie Underwood, Kevin and Jennifer Ashlock, Brent and Amy Wade; longtime family friend Eusebio Mota and wife Rosie, as well as a large extended family and friends. Evan is preceded in death by grandfathers, Steve Gilbreath, Bob Ashlock, and Walter Don Brown; Aunt and Uncle Mike and Traci Troutt. A visitation for Mr. Evan Curtis Brown will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, at Honey Grove High School Gymnasium. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm. Bro. Terry Paul Cunningham will preside, and interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Cinch Gilmore, Aiden Lornson, Mason Woodard, Nick Ottmo, Ethan Craig, Grant Graham, Logan Klockgether, Kain Dobbles, Alex Fisk, and Laiken Thomason. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Honey Grove Fire Department.
