Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure

In Loving Memory of Dorothy Ann Smith

Date of Birth: July 7, 1936

Date of Passing: April 8, 2025

Dorothy Ann Smith, a beloved resident of Auburndale, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the age of 88. Dorothy was a cherished member of her community, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit.  She was a long-time resident of Midland, MI and faithful worshiper of Memorial Presbyterian church.

Dorothy was born on July 7, 1936, and spent her life dedicated to her family and friends. She attended Albion College, where she met the love of her life, Ronald Smith and a proud member of Alpha Zeta Delta. She was a loving wife, mother, grammie and great-grammie, daughter, sister, and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. Her home was a place of comfort and joy, where countless memories were made and cherished.

Mom was always ready for a good time and up for any adventure. She had a passion for games of all kinds—Euchre, bridge, board games, cribbage, and Rummy. Her face was always lit up with a smile, and she loved to laugh.  She also loved spending time at her cottages on Bear Lake and Higgins Lake, as well as enjoying the beaches of Florida, hunting for beach glass.   Her love of photography is evident by the thousands of pictures she left for us.

Throughout her life, Dorothy was actively involved in various community activities and organizations: Clytean, PEO, bell choir, an active member of Auburndale Presbyterian Church and Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland, MI. She was so proud of being a PK and shared that with fellow worshipers.

Dorothy's legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. She touched the lives of many with her gentle heart and unwavering support. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.

She is preceeded in death by her devoted husband, Ron Smith and her parents, Reverend Theodore and Bessie Greenhoe.  She leaves behind her five children: Scott Smith, Linda (Brian Argenbright) Smith, Susan (Burris) Warner, Patty (Mark) Siebert,  and Ted (Stacy) Smith; her eight grandchildren: Jacob Clarke, Joshua Smith, Burris Warner (wife, Madison Warner), Zachary Siebert, Hunter Clarke, Jack Smith, Ellie Smith and Avery Smith; her 2 great-grandchildren: Brooks Warner and Rowen Warner and many loving friends.

As we remember Mom, let us celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the lasting impact she had on all of us. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Midland, MI on June 7, 2025 at 11:00 am, with a reception following at noon at the Midland Country Club.
