Dorothy Marie Hill

"Those we love don't go away; They walk beside us every day." Dorothy (Dee) Marie Hill, age 81, of Port Lavaca, TX passed away on December 27, 2023. Dorothy was born on July 24, 1942 in Inez, TX to the late Mary Koutny and Ben Chanek. Dorothy's beauty was overpowered only by her strong, independent and spunky personality. Her resiliency was displayed numerous times throughout life. It was especially demonstrated in the daughter she raised as a single mother. Producing a strong and courageous woman who is a productive member of society. She was quick with a laugh and her humor was abundant, yet she had a sweet compassionate side with her family and neighbors. She loved life and brightened a room when she walked in, always the life of the party. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Tracie Anton of Hampton VA; Sister, Rosie Repka (Leo) of Victoria TX; brother, Leroy Chanek (Maeva) of Seguin TX; grandchildren, Baillie Adams (Anthony), Brandon Anton; Steven Anton (Maria); her great-grandsons, Caleb and Carter Adams and her loving partner of 21 years, Eddie Ray Cady. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Ben Chanek; mother, Mary Chanek; sister, Ruby Stary; and brothers, V.B., Edwin, Emil, and Allen Chanek. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved them. Dorothy was a successful business owner serving the Six Mile area of Port Lavaca, owning the Hair Shop as a hairdresser and the popular bar, Jus' Country. She was not only dedicated to her work but also had many hobbies. She enjoyed dancing, arts and crafts, sewing, playing slot machines, and singing karaoke. Dorothy found joy and fulfillment in these activities, bringing her closer to her friends and family. A ceremony to honor Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Six Mile Assembly of God at 6440 FM 1090 N, Port Lavaca, TX 77979. Immediately following the ceremony, the family will receive friends and family at a celebration of life catered event at Louie's Six Mile located at 6648 FM 1090, Port Lavaca, TX 77979. A tree will be planted on the site in her loving memory and honor. Dee will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her impressive independent presence and loving compassionate demeanor will be remembered by all. May she rest in eternal peace. "One more day, one more time, one more sunset, maybe I'll be satisfied.
