Dan Roy Williams
May 14, 1945 — October 28, 2025
One day at a time.
Dan Roy Williams, 80, was born on May 14, 1945, in Roseburg, Oregon, at Mercy Hospital, to Wilbur and Goldie Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Ginger Williams of Clackamas; his sister, Joyce Parks of Albany; his daughter, Carie Schmidt of Canby; and his stepchildren, Yoshiko and Haku Mease of Portland. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Williams of Bend.
From the age of 14, Dan spent his summers working for farmers across Eastern Oregon, running combines and learning the value of hard work early in life.
Dan proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He served with the 6931st Iraklion Squadron in Crete as part of a signals intelligence unit, where he worked to decrypt Russian messages. During his time off, he enjoyed the beautiful beaches of Greece. While stationed in Texas, he married Bonnie Smith.
After returning home, Dan worked with Larry’s Sporting Goods, providing athletic equipment to local schools while attending Warner Pacific College, where he earned his master’s degree in education. He went on to teach at Estacada High School until his retirement, where he taught economics and history, mentored countless students, and coached baseball and debate. His encouragement helped many young people pursue college and meaningful careers.
Dan loved teaching, reading, sports of all kinds, fishing, gardening, and being the family taste tester. He touched many lives with his kindness, patience, and dedication.
The family will hold a private service to honor his life.
