Charles G. Tull Sr.
July 2, 1940 — March 2, 2024
Charles Garland “Charlie” Tull, Sr., 83, of Venedy, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, Illinois. He was born July 2, 1940, in Hayti, Missouri to the late James and Lottie “Babe” (Craig) Tull.
Charlie’s life was one of service and duty, as he proudly retired as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of active-duty service with the United States Air Force. He went on to retire yet again after 22 years with another successful career with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing after his military service. Charlie was an educator, always mentoring others as the jack of all trades and storytelling on life’s lessons; however, his greatest accomplishments were his cherished family. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother; whose absence will be felt by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Babe Tull, his siblings, Luke Tull, Glenda Hunt, and Louise Mathis; and his brother-in-law, Ralph Kothe.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Allene (Kothe) Tull, of Venedy, Illinois, his children, Charles “Chaz” Tull, Jr., Lee Tull, Sr., Tonya (nee Tull) (Rick) Hupp, Clinton (Jaime) Tull, and Trevor (Jennifer) Tull; his stepchildren, Douglas (Judy) Husmann, Christina (Kenneth) Conklin, Lynette (Matt) Gunn, and Kathleen (Scott) Schilling; his grandchildren, Lee Tull, Jr., Dean Hupp, Gabriel Tull, Liam Tull, Chance Tull, Alexander Hupp, Abigail Tull, Henry Tull, Kara (Brenden) Engelke, Luke Husmann, Nathan Husmann, Kayla Conklin, Evan Gunn, Autumn Ray, Zack Gunn, Brodie Schilling, Jack Schilling, Ben Husmann, and Max Schilling; his siblings, James (Maria Eva) Tull, Orville (Natalie) Tull, and Gary (Rona) Tull; and his brother-in-law, Lester (Donna) Kothe; and sister-in-law, Allene (nee Ruebke) Kothe; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
