Aldona B. Abeling, 90, of the Town of Broadalbin, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025. She was born on May 21, 1935, at her home on John Street in Amsterdam, NY, and was the daughter of the late John and Sophie (Strikolis) Bablinskaus.
A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, Aldona attended St. Casimir's Grade School and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, where she was a proud member of the school's sorority.
On February 2, 1957, she married Paul E. Abeling. Together, they raised five children, and her family always came first and foremost in her life.
Aldona worked for over 40 years for the Broadalbin-Perth School District, where she took great pride in her service. Earlier in her career, she was employed in the business offices at General Electric, Larrabee's Sporting Goods, and Mohawk Sportswear.
A devout Catholic, Aldona was a longtime member of St. Casimir's Church. She sang in the choir, belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary, and served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Aldona cherished family gatherings, family vacations by the ocean, and quiet rides around Great Sacandaga Lake.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul E. Abeling, and her beloved son, Frederick Abeling.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia (Timothy) Chace; her sons, Paul Abeling, Donald Abeling, and John (Angela) Abeling; and her daughter-in-law, Valerie Abeling. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alyssa (Anton), Timothy (Paige), Kayla (Colin), Valerie (Darren), Ashley, Andrea, Alexandria (Devin), Paul (Arieonna), and Alan; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in the spring at St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow at St. Casimir's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
