July 30, 1948 — January 6, 2025

"May his memory be a blessing."

Alan Neil Bernbaum was born on July 30th, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois where he grew up with his parents, Benny and Marilyn, along with his two sisters, Adrien and Tammy.

He studied Political Science at Northwestern University in Illinois and completed his Doctorate in Dentistry at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. He joined the U.S. Army as an Officer and served at Camp Long near Wonju, South Korea and later Fitzsimons Army Medical Hospital, near Denver.

He settled in Colorado with his wife of 25-years, Rebecca, and raised two children while building a successful family dentistry practice and continuing to serve as a Army Reservist for many years.

Alan was very athletic and always found great joy in skiing, ice skating, swimming, playing tennis and dancing. He was lover of music, particularly the classic Rock'n'Roll and R&B of his youth, as well as Jazz and Swing tunes of an earlier era. He also loved film, with special fondness for great comedies and sentimental tear-jerkers.

Alan passed away on Jan. 6th, 2025 at Bethany Nursing Home in Lakewood, Colorado, at the age of 76 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He's survived by his son, Brian Neil Bernbaum, daughter, Alison Claire Schmidt, along with his grandson Alexander, his two sisters, Adrien Royce and Tammy Harrison, and nephew Jesse Harrison.

His good humor, intelligence, laughter and warmth will be greatly missed.
